🎲 Board Game Recommendation Updates
Here are all the updates made to our living guide of board game recommendations in the past month:
Added Clank! Catacombs to Medium complexity picks for 2-4 players
We’ve had a lot of fun with the exploration element in this newest iteration in the Clank! series, and it is nice to have a game that scratches that deck-building itch that is more in the middle in terms of complexity and play time. Whether you are familiar with the series or not, we definitely think it is worth a look if you enjoy deck-building and exploring a map that is different every time you play.
🎯 What’s Hitting Our Tables
Here is a sampling of games that we have played in the past month:

[Ryan] After a three-month break, I was finally able to schedule the third and final game of my Arcs: Blighted Reach campaign. Happy to say it was the best session yet, and a close finish where all three players had a real chance to pull out a win down the stretch. Amazed by how crazy the campaign can get by the end (granted, we had three C fates in the final game, which tend to be more wild), and how everything that has happened in previous games accumulates into a unique and interesting final scenario. A lot to keep track of in this game (the three-month break did not help), but it really delivered on the promise of a compelling and unique campaign in just three games. Everyone in the group is excited to run it back again sometime!

[Daniel] It finally arrived—Nemesis: Retaliation! I loved the original Nemesis, so I was eager to dive into this new version. The modular map and other improvements really add variety and freshness to the gameplay. The highlight of our session was a brutal moment in the escape pod room: another player and I arrived at the same time, but he jumped in and launched right before me, leaving me stranded to find another way out. Suffice to say, I never made it. Classic Nemesis tension—devastating, cinematic, and exactly what I, and so many other fans, love.

[Ryan] There are times in a board game where you want to carefully work on strategically building your own little board without a lot of player interaction, and there are times where you just want to shoot at other players, slam their cars into rock walls, and make risky jumps over mountains of fire. If the latter piques your interest, then no game fits the bill quite like Thunder Road: Vendetta. Played this time with a well-versed group of gamers, so we threw in the variable characters as well as the drafted car abilities, which added some fun spice. Just good, silly fun, and despite being my 16th play, there were still memorable moments, unlike anything I had seen in previous games.

[Daniel] Another month, another play of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. This time, we found ourselves deep in the Miskatonic Museum, hunting for the Necronomicon. One thing I love about this game is how each scenario branches into different outcomes and resolutions. It leaves me excited to replay someday, just to see what happens if we chase a different path. Every session reminds me why this game continues to be such a thrilling and replayable experience.

[Ryan] If you want a cooperative kids’ game that provides the “legacy” experience of unlocking new content as you play more, look no further than Zombie Kidz Evolution. It starts with a beautifully simple team experience, and the 10-15 minute playtime means that you very quickly reach the exciting moments of the game evolving in fun ways. My 5-year-old son absolutely loved the experience, and we powered through 29 plays this month, unlocking all of the main game content. A really well-executed kids’ game, and I’m glad I have a campaign/legacy-style that I can strongly endorse for younger kids.
Happy Gaming! 👋🏻
